For those unfamiliar with your band, please give a brief one liner about your sound and a quick FFO (For fans of…).
Desert doom rock from Nashville TN for fans of Kyuss, Barkmarket, Soundgarden, and Failure
What was the writing process like for your album?
Very quick and painless. Working with J. Hall is easy because it’s fun and laid back. “The best idea wins” is our motto.
What do you think sets your band apart from the rest? What does Transylvania Stud bring to the table that no one else does?
I think I’m mixing a lot of what was great about all of the bands that influenced me while retaining a fresh take on it. It’s easy to get lumped in with a lot of bands in this genre because they all seem to stay within a certain sound and don’t really deviate from it. I say: The weirder and heavier the better while still retaining a pop element to the melodies.
What sort of things inspire you to create music?
Monster movies, amazing photography, and whiskey
How do you feel about the current state of the music industry, in particular streaming services, “illegal” downloads and such?
We haven’t corrected the major fuck up that Napster created. We all shit on Lars for it, but in the end, he was right and now we’re all worse off for it.
If you could share the stage with any other musician (dead or alive), who would it be?
I would love to jam with Dave Grohl. He’s my musical hero.
Which albums are in your top 10 right now?
Demos of new T-Stud? Hahahahaha
Fast forward 5 years from now, what’s Transylvania Stud doing?
Hopefully still putting out music that people want to own.
Craziest thing you’ve ever done together with the band?
Record everything myself.
Thanks for your time, anything else you’d like to add?
Lemmy is dead. Don’t let rock and roll die with him. Support bands that are providing you music you listen to everyday.
